Fall Update from Student Financial Services

With the school year well under way, Student Financial
Services is well underway with planning for the 2015-2016 academic year.  The fall months in SFS provide the best
opportunity during the calendar year for project and development work to
enhance student services and the student experience and to streamline and
automate processes as much as possible.

Changes to the University Financial Aid Application for
next year (which saves our financial aid applicants $25 per year, since we
build and maintain it ourselves) are being made and tested; planning for spring
financial aid deadlines communications with Undergraduate Admissions has been
underway for a few months now; set up and testing of a new Student Information
System module to support and automate U.Va. Collections activities are being
finalized; as reconciliation of the fall semester payment plan begins, we have
begun enrollment for the payment plan for spring; and as we convert to the new
BroadWorks phone system, we’ll be taking advantage of new call recording
capabilities to assist in training of our customer service team and to document
customer interactions.

So while our volumes of face-to-face communications may
be at a seasonal low, we remain hard at work on several important fronts to
ensure our students’ success in the years to come.
