Logan Hobbs,  2023-2024 Cornerstone Graduate

Logan Hobbs, Compliance Manager in Financial Operations & Tax, was among the graduates of the 2023-2024 Cornerstone cohort who were honored at a graduation ceremony early this October.  The Cornerstone Program aims to identify and nurture exceptional talent at UVA.  Hobbs was part of a group that worked on Accessibility and Affordability at the School of Architecture.  As a part of their work, the team used data they gathered to inform exploratory recommendations for the A-School to ease students' financial burdens.  Way to go, Logan!  For more on the Cornerstone Program, visit their website. 

Michelle Gregory
Michelle Gregory, Workday Pro

Michelle Gregory, Finance Manager, Data & Technology, of the Business Intelligence Team, recently earned her Workday Pro Adaptive Planning Certification.  This accreditation is the result of Gregory completing challenging coursework and an exam, and it reflects her mastery level of proficiency in configuring, collaborating, and overseeing financial plans using Workday Adaptive Planning.  Her certification will enable her to better support the budget planning & Analysis goals of UVAFinance and the University. Thank you for your commitment, Michelle! 


Katie Walker
Katie Walker Presents to UVA Student Council

Early this month, Katie Walker, Assistant Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis, along with Michael Phillips, Associate Vice Provost for Budget & Financial Planning, presented Student Council with an overview of the University's budget process and answered questions about tuition and financial aid.  Read the Cavalier Daily article about their presentation.  Kudos to Katie for prioritizing students!


Cost Accounting Team at Maximus Annual Meeting

This September, Andrew McGehee and Minh Nguyen attended the Maximus 37th Annual Higher Education Meeting to connect with peer research institutions in the world of higher education cost accounting.  Topics covered included F&A Essentials, rate increase strategies, and other specialty topics.  Bravo to Andrew and Minh for staying current in their field!

Jacob Mair Earns his CPA

Jacob Mair, Senior Director of Accounting & Financial Reporting, recently earned the designation of Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  This designation represents a high level of expertise, commitment, and professionalism in the accounting field.  The exam is rigorous, and passing it requires a deep understanding of financial accounting, auditing, regulation, and business environment concepts.  We appreciate your commitment to honing your expertise, Jacob!
