Lorrie Jean is new to the Office of Financial Planning & Analysis (as you read this, she's only been here a week or so). Still, she's quite experienced when it comes to UVA, having served in various roles in Arts & Sciences for almost 23 years before joining UVAFinance.
As a Finance Manager in OFP&A, Jean has already jumped into several projects, assisting with FY23 fund mismatches and fund balance cleanup. She says she was drawn to the role for its growth opportunities and is looking forward to building on the perspective she has from being in a school and using her experience to help others.
"Working in a school before I moved to central finance helps me think globally," she says.
Jean credits her longevity at UVA to its mission. "UVA's mission of education, healthcare, and research makes our work exciting, and keeps your brain moving," she says, adding that "you're part of something important."
When she's not focused on finance, Jean enjoys traveling. She just returned from South America, where she happened to catch The Cure in concert three times (in Peru, Uruguay, and Chile). When she returns from her adventures, her toy poodle, Tib, is there to greet her.
