What's Next for Supplier Diversity

Procurement's Supplier Diversity department is looking forward to the new year.  With new team members in place, and a strong commitment to increasing our engagement with local, small, woman-owned, and minority-owned businesses, we're primed for big things!

The University of Virginia already spends $44.7 million with local suppliers.  As a part of efforts tied to President Jim Ryan's local economy working group, however, we have committed to increasing the proportion of funds going to local businesses.  You can learn more about this working group on this UVA site.

What else is upcoming?

  • The return of the local/SWaM Supplier Expo
  • A refresh of the Supplier Training course
  • Expanded outreach to local business
  • A push to certify local and SWaM businesses we already work with
  • Provide local business data and searches to our schools and units (that's you!)
What's already happening that you can be involved with:
  • Encourage local businesses to connect with UVA Procurement for direction to opportunities and resources via askfinance@virginia.edu
  • Share any groups or engagement opportunities related to local and SWaM businesses to Ajoni Wynn-Floyd in Supplier Diversity.

We're excited to share more with you in 2024!
