Meet Colin: Bringing Curiosity and a Love for People to UVAFinance

Fishing is one of Colin's favorite hobbies

Colin is one of the newest members of the Finance Solution Center (the "Ask Finance" team), and she is bringing her love for people, her curiosity, and a wide range of customer service experience with her. A Charlottesville native, Turner has also spent time living in Florida, where she discovered a “trashy Florida” book series that became a favorite escape.

She has explored different paths in her career, all with a strong focus on people.   She managed the local antique store Circa for several years, then worked as a property manager during the challenges of COVID. Most recently, she has been taking classes at Piedmont Virginia Community College.

While finance is a new chapter for her, Turner saw this role as the perfect chance to try something different while still using the skills she enjoys most: listening, helping, and digging into research. She says she has been pleasantly surprised by how much she enjoys the work and how much it connects with her interests.

“What I have enjoyed the most so far is the people,” Turner says. “Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming, and the work-life balance here is wonderful.”

When she is not at work, Colin enjoys fishing, reading, and spending time with her boyfriend. She also appreciates the simple joy of being in the company of others, whether that means good conversation or comfortable quiet.
