| The Payroll Costing App, upgraded! |
We’re happy to share some great news for everyone who works with Payroll data: our current Workday Payroll Costing app is getting an upgrade — actually, two!
We’re introducing the new Workday Payroll Costing Allocation and Workday Payroll Ledger Details UBI apps. Both were designed with direct input and feedback from UBI users across schools and units, with the goal of making day-to-day reporting easier, more intuitive, and more connected.
Easy Navigation Between Apps
Both new apps now include built-in navigation buttons that allow you to move seamlessly:
- Between Payroll Costing and Payroll Ledger Details by selecting an employee, and
- Directly into the RAD app when you select a Grant.
These connections create a smoother workflow and reduce the need to jump between tools manually.
Better Data Access (Especially for SOM Users)
One of the enhancements we’re most excited about is improved data visibility for School of Medicine (SOM) users:
- SOM users can now access expanded UPG data for employees who hold both Academic and UPG positions.
- Non-SOM users will continue to see Academic data, while UPG information remains hidden for those without SOM affiliation.
This approach ensures that everyone has access to the information they need, while still protecting sensitive data appropriately.
New: Workday Payroll Costing Allocation App
The new Workday Payroll Costing Allocation app includes several features designed to help you identify and address costing issues early.
Key highlight: Missing or Suspense Costing Reports
These reports bring all employees with missing or suspense costing into one easy-to-review location, allowing you to:
- Quickly identify whose costing needs to be updated
- Resolve issues before they impact downstream reporting
- Save time and reduce the risk of errors
New: Workday Payroll Ledger Details App
The Workday Payroll Ledger Details app expands your ability to review and analyze payroll actuals:
- Access historical Payroll Actuals all the way back to Workday inception
- Use Payroll Actuals Distribution by FDM Worktags to query distributions for any pay period timeframe, including detailed percentages
- Report on historical data for terminated employees, ensuring complete and accurate reporting
- Find Salary Over the Cap Reporting reports here going forward — these reports are currently in RAD and will eventually be retired there
Transition Timeline
The current Workday Payroll Costing app will remain available through March, giving users plenty of time to transition any custom reports to the new apps.
We encourage users to begin exploring the new tools soon and take advantage of the enhanced functionality and connected experience.
