Coming Soon: BOA Works Migration to Global Card Access

coming soon: BOA works migration to global card access
Bank of America (BOA) has announced that the way users access Works will change on September 30th. Instead of logging into Works directly, all users will first log into Global Card Access, and from there can click into Works.

Is Works functionality changing? Do I need to learn a new process?

Works functionality is not changing. Rather, only the way users access Works is changing. As a benefit, this new login process will provide users with access to both GCA and Works functionality with one user profile (as opposed to needing a user profile for GCA and a separate user profile for Works).

  • Works: Users can continue using Works to view their Authorization Log, monitor approved and declined transactions, access card billing information, and review detailed card spend and reporting data.
    • How to Access Works Starting September 30th: Once you log in to Global Card Access, the link to Works is located at the top left of the GCA page.
  • Global Card Access (GCA): Users can continue using GCA to manage cardholder settings, including purchase alerts, PIN management, balance inquiries, and recent account activity.

What should I expect on migration day?

On September 30, users will receive a welcome email from globalcardaccess@bofa.com guiding them through the initial login.

  • Users who have existing GCA user ID: The email will indicate that they can use that existing* GCA user profile to log into GCA.
    • If you've forgotten your GCA password, use the "forgot password" functionality from the GCA login page.
*Please note that in some cases, existing GCA users will receive a new GCA user ID that should be used moving forward.

  • Users who do not already have a GCA user ID: The email they receive will guide them through registering for GCA for the first time.
    • For account verification, please be prepared to provide the following:
      • Email: Your Works email is your @virginia.edu email address.
      • Employee ID: 9-digit Employee ID in Workday.
      • Verification ID:
        • For cards issued before June 25, 2026, the Verification ID is the 9-digit Employee ID.
        • For cards issued on or after June 25, 2026, the Verification ID is 29999 + the last 4 digits of the Employee ID.
Having Trouble Logging In?

If a welcome email is not received, please check the following:

  1. Double-check your spam folder and deleted items just in case.
  2. Navigate to Global Card Access - Login (works.com), and use the "Forgot User ID" feature with the email address associated with Works.
