Essentials of Fiscal Stewardship: A New Training for the UVA Community


Coming this fall!
UVAFinance is launching Essentials of Fiscal Stewardship, a brand-new training designed to share what fiscal stewardship really means at UVA and how each of us plays a part in protecting University resources and maintaining trust.

The course covers individual responsibilities, internal controls, financial risks, and the everyday actions that add up to responsible stewardship. Each session also includes time for discussion, giving participants an opportunity to apply the material directly to their current roles and environments across UVA.

What to expect

  • A practical introduction to fiscal stewardship at UVA
  • Guidance on individual responsibilities and internal controls
  • Discussion of common financial risks
  • Real-world conversation about applying these principles in your role

This instructor-led virtual session is conducted via Zoom and facilitated by JJ Sullivan, Director of Financial Compliance. Registered participants will receive the meeting link and passcode following enrollment.

Fall Session Dates

10:00–11:00 a.m.
Each session is limited to 25 participants.
