Kim Deans Joins UVAFinance as Accounting Manager

Please join us in welcoming Kim Deans to the UVAFinance team as an Accounting Manager!

With 28 years of accounting experience, Deans brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role at UVA. Her career includes previous experience at Virginia State University, where she developed a strong connection and love of higher education, with a desire to return to the field.

Originally from Richmond, Deans had always hoped to work at the University of Virginia. When the opportunity to join UVAFinance arose, it felt like the perfect next step—bringing her years of accounting experience back to higher education and allowing her to contribute to a University she has long admired.

As an Accounting Manager, Deans will lead the payroll reconciliation team, working with two Senior Financial Analysts focused on payroll and financial analysis. In her role, she will oversee the accounting side of payroll reconciliation, and help support accurate and informed financial reporting. 

Outside of work, Kim enjoys traveling and giving back to her community through volunteer and nonprofit work. In Richmond, she is involved with Shriners and OES, and supports the American Heart Association through heart health advocacy and encouraging others to receive their CPR certification. She is also passionate about supporting people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.

We are excited to have Deans' experience and commitment to service on the UVAFinance team, and look forward to all she'll bring to this new role.
