for $.01 to $1.00 charges |
contributed by Joyce Gredler
If you have a line item on a quote for a cost of $0.01 to $1.00, please charge those costs to a “non-capital” spend category on the requisition. Here are a few instances where this might happen:
- Various quotes, such as Fisher Scientific, do not charge a shipping fee but require a $0.01 charge to represent "free shipping". For this type of fee, please charge to the “Services Freight Inbound (SC0159)”.
- There also may be $0.01 charges on a quote for a component that is being provided at no additional cost but requires a line-item cost of $0.01 to pull this item from the supplier’s inventory to ship with the order. See this example:
12 Freezer Racks $ 272.79 Eq Capital Laboratory (SC0494)
12 Freezer Racks $ 0.01 Eq Noncapital Laboratory (SC0345)
Only the first two lines would be coded as capital equipment.
