Last week, Katie Walker spoke to leaders in university housing and residence life at the 2024 State of the Profession Symposium organized by the Association of College & University Housing Officers-International.  

Walker shared top issues on the minds of university business officers with this group of senior professionals. 

Procurement Training Session with Engineering

Procurement’s Kevin Crabtree and John Gerding joined the School of Engineering to hold a special procurement training session for about 75 purchasers. While at the session, they reviewed the Marketplace, discussed processing contracts, walked through vendor lookups, demonstrated some common practices, and more.

Lisa Stanton, Dean’s Office Operations Manager in the School of Engineering, says, "Our partnership with Kevin and his team from Procurement has been very helpful. The Engineering School appreciates the opportunity to train, and the feedback from our staff has been overwhelmingly positive. We’re looking forward to additional learning experiences."

Procurement & Supplier Diversity Services at Construction Contractors Conference

The Virginia Department of Small Business & Supplier Diversity (SBSD) and The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Business Opportunity and Workforce Development (BOWD) Center collaborated to offer the Annual Construction Contractors Conference, and UVA was proud to support it as an exhibitor.

 The conference offered vendors training sessions in the morning, an exhibit fair, and matchmaking sessions in the afternoon.
